We plan for the future of your business, community and our planet.

Deeply engrained in our design process is a respect for the cultures we are immersed in, the ecosystems we work in, the places we source our materials from and the businesses we work with.

About

We certainly enjoy cookies, but we try to keep cookie-cutter approaches to design out of our studio.

Every project is an opportunity to do things right. Iconic and thriving places come in many different forms, and well-designed places feel right for their context and users. Our job sits somewhere between creative and technical, and inspiring others and being inspired by our surroundings. And remember - bigger isn't always better.

As a small and emerging design studio, we offer a genuine, hands on approach and personalised experience that can be harder to find with bigger firms. But rest assured, we can still deliver ambitious projects. We are experienced professionals and we are passionate about what we do.

Services

Master
Planning

Is your project located in a sensitive or really remote area? Or are you looking for more of a long-term strategy to inform future investment and decision-making? We can put together a master plan as part of a feasibility study, project plan or an investment package to inform future decisions. Long-term success starts with a good plan.

Design
Consultations

Have you had other design work done and are seeking a new direction or your priorities have changed? We can offer a design review and suggestions by putting together a quick report or package to get your project back on track. We can also help put together quick lookbooks, plans and perspectives, photography and other deliverables customised to suit your needs.

Put simply, we solve problems and make things look good at the same time.

Sounds easy right? While every project teaches us something (ask any landscape architect and if they don't agree, they're probably lying), making things work and look good at the same time is harder than it looks (especially when politics are involved!).  We can't make miracles happen - although someone once said we do - but we do the best we can with the constraints and budgets we work with.

A good design process also saves you money, and stress. It’s certainly a lot easier and cheaper to change things on a plan during the design process than it is once it’s constructed.

What we do

We help get
things done

That means respecting each others’ time, delivering what we say we are going to deliver (and when), and being on site as much as we need to be.

We can't always control all of the factors that influence how long a project will take, but we set realistic expectations and expect communication and transparency to go both ways. We're in this together!

Because there's nothing quite like that feeling of seeing projects come to life that you’ve spent months or years working on.

But, it takes a team to deliver the best results.

We work with our clients and collaborate with  a range of specialists to define and achieve their project's vision. You can’t solve a puzzle by everyone looking at every piece individually, so we bring everyone together to create real, tangible outcomes. We’ve worked on projects with many different experts in their field including all kinds of engineers, artists, ecologists, hotel operators, government officials, wellness specialists and even a shaman.

Louise Custance

Director + Registered Landscape Architect (AILA)

Louise's 11+ years working as a landscape architect have taken her to some of the world's most beautiful places, both at home in regional Australia and internationally. Her diverse experience ranges from master planning and design of nature-based infrastructure and high-end hospitality projects in the private sector, to delivering multiple national award-winning public realm projects in regional Australia. For Louise, her role as a landscape architect in society is more than just a job, it's a responsibility to make better decisions and provide value-for-money solutions to problems that affect communities and the natural environment.

She thrives off new experiences and puts her professional success to date down to her down-to-earth personality, work ethic, adaptability and sense of adventure, shaped by her small-town South Australian upbringing and global travels. With two masters degrees and two languages (and learning a third) under her belt, Louise has been described by many as a ‘doer' and prides herself on her ability to get things done, both in her own life and for her clients.

She established LINEA to continue her biggest passions: sustainable regional communities, more responsible development and a better world. With Kangaroo Island as her home base, it’s the perfect place to spend her spare time between her busy schedule in nature, whether surfing, running, camping or exploring with her small and ultra-relaxed dog Milo.

*We're slowly growing as a small team of like-minded individuals with big ideas, stay tuned!

Isobel Pryor

Design Associate

Originally based in the Adelaide Hills, Izzy began her design journey studying a Bachelor of Interior Architecture while working in the Adelaide hospitality scene. But an unexpected opportunity ended up leading her halfway across the world to a landscape architecture and master planning studio in Costa Rica. Over the next five years, she worked on projects across Central America, Mexico, and the southern USA—a role that perfectly suited her free-spirited nature, love of plants and exploring.

Though returning home to Australia still waits on the horizon, Izzy has since found a rhythm she loves on the northern coast of Mexico. When she isn’t working remotely, she is appreciating and capturing the beauty of simplicity and everyday moments—where the ocean meets the desert, dogs roam freely, and good friends and food make life all the more richer.
